About Pumps

Maxi Diaphragm PumpPumps are used to transfer waste materials between two points.  Pumps are used in many different environments, and they are able to pump more than just one set type of material.  The materials can range from sewage, wastewater, slurry, abattoirs and clay pumping and more.  The pumps are able to do this because they are able to lift waste from a lower height and push it through the pump, by it pumping the material through the inlet and then pushing it through the outlet, the distance which the material is then pumped can vary.Ram Pump

There are many different types of pumps which can perform these tasks.  The pumps we use are Positive Displacement Pumps, which is a common type of pump that allows for high capacity and high pressures.  Other examples of pumps are Progressive Cavity Pumps, Centrifugal Pumps.

Pumps are built to width stand high pressures and to last year after year with relatively low maintenance.  This is achieved as the amount of moving parts in a pump is limited, so if anything does need to be changed that would depend on the usage and materials that the pump is pumping.

To help increase the life of the parts of a pump Surge Arrestors are often used, these are used to help balance the flow of material in and out of the pump.  The object which is responsible for the pumping of the material inside the pump is usually a Diaphragm or a Ram, the difference in output is a ram can often pump to higher pressures and therefore achieve higher flow rates.
